Again we introduce a very inspiring guest for our upcoming Climate College Tour: Henk Jan Beltman, Chief Chocolate Officer at Tony’s Chocolonely. After a career with Heineken, Vrumona and Innocent Drinks, in 2007 Henk Jan approached Tony’s Chocolonely. He wanted to lead a company making a positive impact, and that is how Henk Jan ended up with Tony’s Chocolonely in 2010. His ambition is to pursue the mission for a slave-free chocolate industry.
Tony’s Chocolonely is now well established on the chocolate map and, step by step, more countries are following. There is an office in Amsterdam, Portland and now also in London, and Tony’s has made it to The Nordics and more of Europe too. Henk Jan’s dream is about to come true; building a chocolate factory where people can make their own chocolate and will be informed about the concerning situation in the chocolate industry. An actual choco-experience! Tony’s goal is not to make just their chocolate slave free, but all chocolate worldwide. Crazy about chocolate, serious about people.
Moderator Peter Melis will interview Henk Jan about how to challenge the status quo and how to empower the consumer to join their mission to make 100% slave free becomes the norm in chocolate. Tony’s Chocolonely is amongst other things known for lead by example to show the world that chocolate can be made differently. One great example is that they were the first to put milk chocolate in red packaging. Why would they do that? How does it contribute to the impact of the social enterprise? Like you are used to, there will be enough room for your own questions.
Climate College Tour is een serie van inspirerende interviewsessies met koplopers en innovators in klimaat, sociaal ondernemerschap en duurzaamheid. Georganiseerd door Sungevity, The Student Hotel en Social Enterprise NL.
